Big Kid Beds
The kids are making the transition to 'big kid' beds. First off I have to rant about the whole "convertible" crib thing... We spent $350 on what I thought was pretty good cribs that were 4-in-1 convertible. When it got to the time to really convert the cribs I learned the toddler conversion kit was $90 each, and the full bed kit was $199. I mean seriously I can go to RoomsToGo or Room Store and get cool twin beds for much cheaper than that with coordinating dressers and such... so anyway... We opted to leave the cribs and try to sale them and then go invest in cheap $60 toddler beds until the kids get their own room. At that time we'll go buy nice twin beds and furniture for them.... Ok... so our first night in the beds was so-so. Caden of course didn't want to say in his bed and after several attempts we finally left him in the room and he fell asleep in the floor. Callie went to sleep very easily. Of course they didn't stay there all night, but that isn't that rare for them and we are suckers and let them come cuddle with us. In their defense their routine has really off lately and they have spent only 2 of the last 8 nights with us so I think we would have had issues even if they had been in cribs last night. At nap time today Corey sat in their room with them for a few minutes as they watched ToyStory to fall asleep... after a while I went to check on them and this is what I saw...All three of them were out!!! In the photo Caden's eyes are open, but it must have just been from the flash, he was out and didn't even wiggle when I took the photo.

Callie asleep in her new bed on the first night.

Caden on the floor, instead of bed where he should be. This after many attempts to have him stay in bed.
By the way.. the flash on my camera is amazing... it was super dark in their room when I took all three of these photos.

Callie's Surgery
Callie went in for her second surgery on June 14th. She had tubes put into her ears at 9 months and this time she had a sebaceus nevus removed from her scalp. A nevus is a type of a birthmak some kids are born with, and this one left a quarter size bald spot on her head. Although the spot was not harmful at all, we decided that in the long run the chances of her being unhappy with it during her teen and adult years were pretty high so we opted for surgery now. She was a trooper and did great. By the afternoon she was relaxing on the couch playing on the Ipod and then even riding on her little car inside. I almost posted after pictures but thought I'd better wait till the stitches were out and it wasn't so icky looking.

Addyson's Birthday
We were invited to Addyson's 3rd birthday party. Addyson is my cousin Joni's little girl. It was very special to enjoy the time with family and let the twins get to know their second cousins as well. The kids played at the Splash Park and enjoyed Brownie Grill Cupcakes that Joni made. It was a blast.
NICU Reunion
A couple of weeks ago we had the pleasure of attending the NICU reunion at Texas Health Hospital Denton. The NICU is the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit where the kids had to stay for the first 23 days of their lives. It was fun to see the triplets that were our neighbors for a while and also a couple of the nurses who cared for Caden and Callie. I think it was also reassuring for some of the newly released NICU baby parent's to see such wild and crazy healthy two year olds running around. We hope this becomes an annual event.
Isn't the saying, "If at first you don't succeed... try, try again" or something like that... well after many times of messing with it and tweeking different settings I finally got it all figured out.. I THINK. Not sure I could fix it again or get anyone else a background set up but hey I got ours. Hope you enjoy.
